CroisiEurope & Our Attempts To Protect the Environment

At CroisiEurope, we believe nature is our greatest treasure. For decades, this belief has shaped our approach to river cruising and driven us to protect the ecosystems we explore.

As one of the pioneers in sustainable river tourism, our environmental commitment goes well beyond compliance. We continuously seek new, effective ways to reduce our ecological footprint—because for us, sustainability isn’t a trend; it’s a responsibility.

One key example of this is our recent transition to GTL (Gas-to-Liquid) fuel. In collaboration with AS Energy, we successfully conducted trials on the Seine River. The results were clear: GTL fuel burns cleaner and more evenly, significantly reducing emissions compared to traditional marine fuels. This change marks a major step in reducing air pollution along our waterways.

Berlin On A Cruise - A Cruising Discovery

Though the Berlin Wall fell decades ago, its echoes remain. Scattered fragments are powerful reminders—none more striking than the East Side Gallery. Stretching 1.3 kilometers along the River Spree, this former barrier now displays 118 murals by artists from 21 countries. The most iconic? The “Fraternal Kiss” between Brezhnev and Honecker.

History lives on across Berlin. You can stand where East met West at Checkpoint Charlie, once the best-known border crossing. Nearby, Potsdamer Platz rises from what was once the no-man’s land. In Mauerpark, green space has replaced the dreaded Death Strip. And at the Berlin Wall Memorial, you’ll find one of the last preserved sections in full.

A double row of cobblestones traces the Wall’s path through the city—a city that now pulses with life, art, and over 160 museums. Berlin never forgets—but it never stands still.
