What Documents Do I Need for a CroisiEurope River Cruise?
Australian travellers on CroisiEurope river cruises need to manage several sets of documents some required by the cruise line, others by the countries visited. Here is the complete checklist, organised by when each document is needed.

Before You Travel: Documents to Prepare
Passport: Valid for at least 6 months beyond your return date to Australia. Check now passport renewal takes 4 6 weeks under normal conditions (longer during peak periods). A renewed passport should be your first action if your current passport expires within 18 months.
CroisiEurope Booking Confirmation: Your complete booking confirmation from CroisiEurope Australia. This should include: your booking reference number, the ship name, embarkation date, time, and port, cabin number, itinerary summary, and any special requests on file.
Travel Insurance Policy: Your policy number, insurer's 24-hour emergency contact number, and a summary of coverage. Store this separately from your other documents if your bag is stolen, you need this accessible.
Flight Booking Confirmation: Airline, flight numbers, departure and arrival times. Particularly important for transfers if CroisiEurope Australia has arranged airport pickup.
Pre/Post Hotel Confirmation: If you are staying in the embarkation or disembarkation city before/after the cruise.

Visa Requirements for European River Cruises
Australian passport holders do not require a Schengen visa for visits to the Schengen Area of up to 90 days in any 180-day period. The Schengen Area includes: Austria, Germany, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, and most other EU countries. Croatia is now Schengen. Hungary is Schengen.
ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System): The EU's pre-travel authorisation system (similar to Australia's ETAS for US citizens) was in development for several years. Check the current status before travel if active, Australian passport holders will need to register online (a simple online process with a small fee) before entering the Schengen Area.
Serbia and Montenegro: If your Danube cruise continues to the Iron Gates or Belgrade, these countries are outside Schengen. Australian passport holders currently enter visa-free for short stays confirm current requirements before departure.
Egypt (Nile cruise): Australian passport holders can obtain a visa on arrival at Cairo or Luxor airports, or apply for an e-Visa online in advance (recommended). Cost approximately USD $25.
Vietnam (Mekong cruise): Australian passport holders require a visa. An e-Visa is available online at the Vietnamese government portal. Apply at least 3 business days before departure.
Cambodia (Mekong cruise): Australian passport holders can obtain a visa on arrival at Phnom Penh or Siem Reap airports, or apply for an e-Visa online. Online e-Visa is recommended.
Health Documents
Vaccination records: European river cruises generally do not require proof of vaccination. For Mekong, Nile, and Amazon itineraries, some vaccinations are recommended (see the Vaccinations FAQ).
Prescription medications: Carry a letter from your doctor listing medications by both brand name and generic name, and the condition they treat. This is essential for customs if carrying controlled substances, and useful if you need to obtain additional supplies abroad.
