Missing the Ship at Embarkation (Day 1)

If you miss the ship's departure on the first day due to a flight delay or other travel disruption, you are responsible for catching up with the vessel at the next port. Most river cruise embarkation cities are connected by excellent rail and road infrastructure. Passau to Vienna (a common Danube start): 2.5 hours by train. Amsterdam to Cologne (Rhine start): 2.5 hours by train. Catching up with the ship at the next port is usually logistically manageable but it is your expense.
